Allthough this show is about women and aging, I, as a man, was very impressed with it. I’m at a stage in my life that you would call midlife (I’m 40 now) and so my thoughts an my concerns are geared to how I imagine my second half of life to be…
I would like to recommend a book (yes, again!). We all love Jung and we all love Fairy Tales, right? 🙂 With “Once Upon A Midlife – Classic Stories And Mythic Tales To Illuminate The Middle Years” by Allan B.Chinen we have a combination of both, how delightful 🙂
Chinen does a beautiful job in interpreting some ancient (fairy) tales that (in his opinion) deal with midlife. The book has four parts, entitled “Settling Down”, “Reversals”, “Common Crises” and “Reconciliation And Renewal”. In each part he deals with some aspects of the bigger theme.
I found his approach to be very creative and thought provoking. Much more than a dry thesis of “things how they are”. Good work.
