Maria Hess, Ph.D. is both therapist and assistant professor at Sonoma State University where she was voted teacher of the year. Having worked with her for many years, I have personally witnessed her real gift for challenging and inspiring students. For interested listeners, she recommends the following books as ones that have had a big impact on her: Teaching to Transgress by Bell Hooks, The Drama of The Gifted Child by Alice Miller, and If you Meet the Buddha on The Road, Kill Him by Sheldon Kopp. Finally we end with an aptly named podsafe instrumental: “The Learning Curve” by Paul Rose.
