Jerry Hyde was educated at Bryanston School in Dorset and went to art school at Kingston before working in film, theatre, TV, and the music business. In his late twenties, he sought help for drug dependency and subsequently retrained as a psychotherapist. He followed a fairly conventional career throughout his 30’s before completely losing the plot in his early 40’s (he’s now 50) and rebranding himself in the somewhat out-there style for which he’s become known, which some have dubbed ‘Gonzo Therapy’. Despite all attempts at mid-life self-destruction, he still has a very large and thriving practice. During his career, he’s worked with many well-known names in the arts and creative fields, and this, plus his own background in the music, film and TV business, has formed his outlook and writing style.

In addition, I found the following on the web:

Jerry is a self-described: MENTOR, BESTSELLING AUTHOR, FILMMAKER, PODCASTER, PSYCHEDELIC INTEGRATOR, DENIM FREAK, COFFEE FIEND, and PROVOCATEUR.

BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF BLADESVILLE, DREAMACHINE, PLAY FROM YOUR FUCKING HEART, THE BOOK OF SIN,  and EMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL

A Shadow therapist with 25 years of clinical experience, Hyde rejects many of the conventionally held views of the mainstream psychotherapy world. He works with couples and individuals and leads the largest men’s group practice in the UK.

An outspoken advocate of shamanic plant medicines he believes for some people a combination of deep psychotherapeutic work and psychedelic entheogens to be the most powerful way of bringing about real, lasting, and positive transformation.

Jerry made a film about his men’s work.  You can stream it for a small fee from www.makemeaman.com
