Michael Gellert was born and raised in Montreal. The son of Hungarian Holocaust survivors, he was educated in rabbinic Judaism, pursued religious studies in college, and trained with a renowned Zen master in Japan for two years. He was a humanities professor at Vanier College, Montreal, managed an employee assistance program for the City of New York, and served as a mental health consultant for the University of Southern California and Time magazine. A Jungian psychoanalyst practicing in Los Angeles and Pasadena, Michael is a former Director of Training and currently an instructor at the C. G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles. He also leads a Jungian Writing Workshop. His books include Modern Mysticism, The Way of the Small (which won Spirituality & Practice’s Book Award for One of the Best Spiritual Books of 2007), America’s Identity Crisis, and The Divine Mind (the latter two each receiving a Nautilus Book Award). His new book, Far From This Land: A Memoir About Evolution, Love, and the Afterlife, will be published on August 15th, 2021 and is available for preorder on Amazon and, with signed and personalized copies, through the C.
