Effie Malley is a senior prevention specialist at the national Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC). She is one of the authors of SPRC’s Suicide Risk and Prevention for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Youth, and has given numerous trainings on the topic. She works with federal grantees, advising them on youth suicide prevention and early intervention. She also works with a number of statewide suicide prevention coalitions. She is particularly interested in research to practice issues and coalition building.
Prior to working at SPRC, she was director of the Suicide Prevention Partnership for five years. She also consulted several years with nonprofit organizations and foundations where she focused on health issues in the areas of mental health, brain injury, and suicide prevention.
Earlier Effie spent several years working in New Hampshire state government. She is the former state director of the NH Division for Children and Youth Services with responsibility for child protective and juvenile justice services.

i know that we are supposed to want to be inclusive and inoffensive and such, but can we please come up with a less cumbersome catch all term than lgbt? something with less syllables or at least a shorter acronym?
