#23 – Ageism: A Call for Tolerance and Compassion

Frank Smolle, our Australian correspondent, interviews nurse Carol Mortenson about her experiences working with older patients and her views on age discrimination (Ageism) in Australia. Her observations are right on and certainly apply to the U.S. and, perhaps, most other “developed” countries, as well. For background reading, Frank suggests: Snyder, M., & Miene, P.K. (1994). Stereotyping of the elderly: A functional approach. British Journal of Social Psychology, 33, 63-82. At the end of the show, Frank has chosen the podsafe music selection: “Sweetness from Nothing” by Zerobae.
