John C. Valentino is Chief Executive Officer of Psyleron. Psyleron was founded by scientists and associates of the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research laboratory (PEAR) at Princeton University. The PEAR lab spent more than twenty-eight years studying the interaction of the mind with sensitive random physical devices, and demonstrated that consciousness is indeed capable of influencing the physical world. According to their literature, Psyleron builds upon the PEAR work by providing products and technology that enable researchers and members of the public to experience mind-matter effects. Psyleron advocates personal exploration, and a collaborative research approach to better understand and generate applications of consciousness-correlated phenomena. Early innovations have been well-received by the public and are paving the way for a new industry and a new perspective in science. My guest, John Valentino spent a year at the PEAR lab as an intern, where he came to believe that the lab’s work was of great scientific importance and had commercial potential. In his time at the lab, he developed research hardware and software, conducted experiments, and contributed a unique analysis of data that helped address subjective aspects of the experiments. He earned his BS from the Integrated Business and Engineering (IBE) program at Lehigh University, where he served as president of the program, and focused on engineering, entrepreneurship, and product development. He co-founded Psyleron in 2005, and has served as CEO since that date.

I really enjoyed this show. I’ve experienced enough synchronicitous events in my life to believe that there is something to the idea. As I listened, to Mr. Valentino describe his various products, and particularly as Dr. Dave described his experience with synctxt, it occurred to me that there is a slight difference in approaches toward inducing episodes of meaningful synchronicity.
For example, in regard to influencing the Random Event Generator, or the lamp which changes colors based on an REG engine, it seems as if an act of will is involved. Someone is consciously seeking to manipulate the behavior of the device. In contrast, at least in Dr. Dave’s story of the Ram Dass quote being delivered during a conversation with his sister about Ram Dass, there was no willful manipulation. If anything, it suggests perhaps a subconscious connection, which is the basis on which Dr. Jung suggested synchronicity typically occurs, as in the famous story of the beetle flying into the room as his patient discussed a dream involving a scarab. Does anyone else see a distinction between these two types of effects?
Finally, this podcast brought to mind the work of Rupert Sheldrake who has experimented with a similar phenomenon, the sense of being stared at. He posits that at a rate greater than random chance, people can detect that another person either is or is not looking at the back of the person’s head. He also suggests a theory he refers to as spiritual fields as a first attempt to explain how the phenomenon may occur.
It will be interesting to see if, as Dr. Dave muses, these ideas and the research to test and refine them will gain traction going forward. I, for one, hope they do.
This is an interesting observation/distinction, i.e. willfully trying to influence the device (a form of telekinesis) vs.non-willed chance correlations (synchronicity). A listener recently alerted me to a recent interview of Dean Radin by Art Bell. They discussed Psyleron and the random generator devices on that show. A primary use of those sorts of devices is non-willful, involving looking at what happens when a major, global event takes place, e.g. the death of Michael Jackson. I wonder what those devices registered around this event. This would definitely be the sort of thing Rupert Sheldrake would expect, I think. I should contact John and Dean and ask them if there were any random generator “twitches” correlated with Michael Jackson’s death…

I have heard alot about this phenomenon, eg. the power of group meditation, power of prier, rat experiments, and energy transference in a room, the affect of Ice crystal formation with an emotion, and communication yogurt.
Synchronicity is a phenomenon I am alert to and take notice of all the time, even when in conversation with my clients. Clients talk to me for their own reasons but I a aware that I too am learning from them. and at time a subject comes up that is happening in the clients life that I was just reading about, as if the universe was preparing be for that person.
