Jim Rough is a consultant, speaker, seminar leader, author, and social innovator. He originated Dynamic Facilitation, a new way of facilitating meetings that assures creative collaborative thinking, which is now being used all over the world. For almost two decades he has presented public seminars on this innovation. Jim also created the Wisdom Council, which is a new approach to facilitating large systems of people to work together creatively. Jim describes this innovation as applied to the nation and the world in his book, Society’s Breakthrough! Releasing Essential Wisdom and Virtue in All the People. Jim is co-founder of the non-profit, Center for Wise Democracy, which helps people in cities like Victoria BC, Port Townsend WA, and Bregnez Austria, implement the Wisdom Council. Since 1999 Jim has hosted a TV show focusing on democracy and social innovations, which is viewable on the web. He is a keynote speaker at many conferences, including “The Great Turning” an environmental conference in New Hampshire, a Policy Governance Conference in Washington DC, and the Collective Wisdom Conference in Wurtzburg Germany. For twenty years Jim was on the faculty of annual Creative Problem Solving Institutes in Buffalo NY.

Jim’s education includes a B.A. in physics from Occidental College, M.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Columbia University and independent study in Jungian psychology.
